{w family | paradise, ca | canyon rim session}

11:01 PM 0 Comments
    Another one of my sessions done before Christmas that had to be kept secret until after Christmas cards went out.  The lighting that evening that we did their session was AMAZING!  I couldn't get over the colors that we were getting.  I'm so thankful they were troopers and hiked back to get the views that we did of the canyon rim that over looks Chico, CA.  Gorgeous lighting, picturesque backdrop and amazing clients = some pretty awesome images!!  Thank you again Paula for asking me to take some photos for your family Christmas cards this past year.

p.s. how cute is Paula's baby bump?!  Congratulations again to you all on the little bundle that's coming soon!!

      I'm quite behind on getting a lot of my sessiosn up and blogged, but some had to wait until after the holidays...Riley's was one of them.  His precious little newborn session was done right here in Paradise, CA, with his mommy, daddy and super awesome dog Fezik!   Riley's story is a pretty amazing one and a constant reminder to me that God has a plan for all of our lives, especially this little guy's life!  You can check out more of his story on his momma's blog: http://lisaknopf.blogspot.com  Lisa and Dan, I had so much fun with you all that morning and am so glad that we were able to capture some of these sweet moments for you all!

Paradise, CA | custom homes | LAW Engineering

8:56 PM 0 Comments
Earlier this week I was able to get out with the Wentland family and photograph some of the homes that they have and are currently working on here in Paradise, CA.  Thankfully, we had no rain, even though we need it.  But the weather was perfect for photos and we got some great shots of the custom homes that they've helped to build and design here in Paradise, CA.  This was a little out of the norm for me but I enjoyed it!  Should you need any type of custom home planning or construction needs in the Paradise, Chico, Oroville and surrounding areas, check out Wentland Construction or LAW Engineering.  You won't be disappointed!

{h family session | team ireland | paradise, ca}

This family has really captured my heart!  I feel honored that they would ask me to photograph their adorable little family of 7...so maybe not so little but still adorable!  Even though we SO badly need the rain out here in Cali, I'm thankful that in the middle of January we had a gorgeous warm morning for their session.  Little Ireland is such a sweetheart and her fighting spirit is so admirable to me!  I'm so thankful for all that God has done and is continuing doing in their situation.  They are such a great example to me of perseverance even when that doesn't seem like that's even possible!  Thank you H family for allowing me to capture some memories for you guys...and for the laughs! :)

{christmas sessions | canyon rim sunset | fall perfection}

10:03 PM 0 Comments

I can't even begin to explain what tonight's light and sunset looked like.  As I was finishing up a session for a local Chico family, I was in complete awe of the sky.  The weather was a perfect fall evening and the colors, the colors were amazing!  So instead of me trying to tell you what it looked like, I will just share a photo from the canyon rim of God's amazing handy work in motion.  I'm glad I did take these photos posted below, because well since Christmas cards are right around the corner, we can't share their photos JUST yet.  :)  They were adorable and I can't wait to blog about all my Fall and Christmas card sessions when the time comes!  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving this next week!

Monday morning creativity...

10:51 AM 0 Comments
Just working on a few business related items this morning and thought I'd share some of the cuties from previous cake smash sessions that are being feature on my gift certificate.  I hope you all are having a productive Monday morning where you are.  I'm still trying to brain storm over here on my bio section for my website...maybe this second pot of coffee will help! Cheers! :)

{fancy french toast | sunday mornings | cali living}

2:58 PM 0 Comments

So I know that this post is not exactly photography related but I thought I'd share something I made this past Sunday morning, because well...it was amazing!  I love french toast, but this took it to a whole new level.  Of course my husband tried to remind me of this, and I just replied..."it's fancy french toast!"  Ok so here's the steps and recipe.  I originally found this on Pinterest:

http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2013/02/baked-french-toast-sticks.html

French Toast Sticks, makes 2-3 servings.
4-5 slices of bread (she used an Italian loaf, I used what I had on hand)
4 eggs
2 tablespoons cream (she used half and half, I used whole milk)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
a generous sprinkle of cinnamon
Cinnamon and Sugar for topping: 1/4 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons Cinnamon if you don't already have a mixture at home.

I used whole milk here instead of cream...but I'm sure it would be better with half and half! :)

mix together all of your ingredients...then you're ready for the bread!

Cutting the bread into long slices makes them more like french toast sticks and works great for one year olds!!

I used my long bar pan from pampered chef, along with my Silpat mat on top of that to keep them from sticking to the pan.

Here is what they look like after having been dipped in the egg mixture and sprinkled with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

my little helper :)

Under the broiler!  This is the tricky part!  2-3 mins under the broiler, you basically want to cook the egg and crystalize the sugar on top. Then flip them and do the other side for 2-3 mins.  She mentioned creme brûlée...which when you think of that totally makes sense.  Thankfully I didn't burn anything!!

...and BOOM!  Success!

Presentation is everything right :)

These were so yummy!  I will be making these again, it may actually become a holiday breakfast or something along those lines.  Enjoy!!
